Development Goals
The PCWSDA has an excellent loan portfolio and has achieved two years of positive net income. It is growing its loan portfolio and client base at about 300 new clients per year, but it is covering only about 4 percent of the loan demand in the county. The demand for loans far exceeds the PCWSDA's staff and funding capabilities. Only 15 out of 364 villages are currently being covered by the PCWSDA.
- expand its scope of operations by attracting additional capital in order to make loans to more people and thus reduce poverty to a greater extent;
- become a fully self-sustaining microfinance institution by generating sufficient revenues to earn annual surpluses;
- build strong management and staff, continue to improve its governance to ensure effectiveness and accountability; and
- gain access to local and international financial markets for loans.
In the next two years, we hope to expand the PCWSDA's portfolio to 5000 clients. Our goal is to raise $250,000 in donations this year, to meet a total of $500,000 in donations over two years. In addition, we plan to assist the PCWSDA in obtaining another $1,000,000 in loans from local banks.
With 5000 clients, we expect Pucheng to have enough of a track record to gain ready access to domestic and international sources of capital.
